Lorsque je publie un texte qui ouvre un chemin inédit à l'art, note Isidore Isou, en 1959, dans sa préface à « Quinze poèmes qui prouvent la diversité du lettrisme », mes adversaires remarquent simplement que je n'ai pas prouvé la valeur de ce chemin, par un nombre suffisant d'œuvres. Lorsque je publie des œuvres qui prouvent la valeur de la voie que j'ai ouverte, mes adversaires remarquent seulement que, cette fois, je n'ai rien découvert d'original.
